Shipping is a cost effective and energy efficient method of transporting goods around the globe. It is indispensable to the world economy and supports worldwide prosperity through international trade. MARENER 2017 will provide a forum for all stakeholders to examine opportunities and challenges in the field of maritime energy with the aim of achieving an energy efficient and low carbon future for the maritime industry.
New and potentially disruptive technologies are changing the nature of many sectors such as retail, aviation and taxi services. So far we have not seen a huge impact on shipping industry. But should and will this last, how can we use the possibilities this offers?...
In collaboration with CBS Executive, we will literally dive into the subject of deep sea mining and take a closer look into how it answers challenges we are facing due to growing global demand for metals which increases the commodity prices. Why is this business a good idea? How about the technology behind? What are the challenges and risks?
Join us at the mid-term EfficienSea2 conference to learn about our cutting edge developments.
EfficienSea2 is ground-breaking because we take e-Navigation from testbeds to real-life implementation. Standing on the shoulders of previous e-Navigation projects and based on contemporary and noveltechnology, we create the first...
This year DFDS, northern Europe’s largest integrated shipping and logistics company, celebrates its 150th anniversary. The DFDS Newbuilding and Major Conversions department will present ongoing projects, how to implement best practice in the projects, and touch upon geographical and regulatory challenges.
What are the new business opportunities in SECA? How do we monitor compliance? What are the pros and cons of different technical abatement technologies? And what are the health and environmental effects?
These are the central questions that we will discuss during the EnviSuM learning café, which will be held during the Danish Maritime Days 2016.

Today, proper and practical design of ships and other floating structures is as important as ever, since safety and efficiency are fundamental to any marine operation including technical operations on ships in a seaway, oil and gas production from floating offshore structures, installation, inspection and maintenance of structures for wave and wind energy harvesting, aqua culture, etc. On this account, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is most delighted to be the organising host of the 13th International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures – PRADS’2016.
The Danish Maritime Investigation Board's newly released report (Proceduralizing marine safety - Procedures in accident causation) discusses the challenges of using procedures as a safety barrier. Based on the conclusions of the report, we will look into how safety
And what can be done to prevent accidents like these?
Torben Jørgensen from Thorco Shipping will explain to us what went wrong in December 2015, what Thorco Shipping has learned, and how will they avoid accidents like this in the future.
Pino Spadafora from the Italian classification society RINA will present suggestions to avoid accidents as the one on Thorco Cloud.
This workshop is the second of a series of events about 3D printing in the maritime industry. The contents of workshop 2 will to some extent depend on the evaluations of workshop 1 and the study trip. We will, however, look into product versus process innovation, additive manufacturing and supply chains of the future.

The RoRo SECA project is a DTU project funded by the Danish Maritime Fund. Its main objective is to identify and assess possible technical, operational, regulatory and financial measures for the mitigation and reversal of the negative repercussions of environmental legislation to the market shares of Ro-Ro shipping in Northern Europe. DTU is engaged in this research with DFDS as industry partner. The project is endorsed by the European Community Shipowners Association (ECSA) and Interferry.

Until now, 3D printing has largely been used by product designers and hobbyists and for a few select manufacturing applications. However, the performance of additive manufacturing machinery is improving, the range of materials is expanding, and prices (for both printers and materials) are decreasing rapidly
Whether in space, in air, over water or on ground, we strive towards making the world better with automation. Exciting innovations in the robotics and drone industry are changing businesses as diverse as manufacturing, agriculture, supply chain logistics, education, healthcare, automotive, retailing and more.
This workshop will address health-, socio-economic and environmental effects of the SECA regulation and will explore the needs of the maritime industry when making clean shipping investments.
