Business and new opportunities for the development of the LNG sector met onboard M/S Stavangerfjord

The conference: LNG: Best Fuel of the Future took place last week onboard Fjord Line’s LNG powered ferry M/S Stavangerfjord, gathering stakeholders from various organisations for a lively 3-day event. The conference and study tour welcomed almost 100 participants and 22 speakers from 19 countries - Europe and beyond. The event wasn’t just about the speeches and presentations. It offered great networking opportunities – even 124 B2B meetings were held onboard.

On the first-ever LNG driven passenger ship, the participants got an opportunity of attending an event in a truly unique maritime surrounding. The conference and study tour was organised within the framework of the Go LNG project, which is focused on the development of demand and accessibility of LNG in the Baltic Region.

With the expected increase in the demand for LNG in the near future, new investments are required worldwide to meet the growing LNG demand! So, it was time for the industry to come together to get the latest news on LNG development and technologies. And indeed they did!

Through the many presentations, the discussion ran freely and future speculations as well. Ole Vidar Nilsen Business, Development Manager, Maritime, DNV GL, was giving a presentation on the future LNG landscape, emphasizing that by 2050 one-third of the vessels worldwide should be utilizing LNG.

And, a unique venue gives away for some unique opportunities. So, a guided tour - “LNG from the Engine to the Bridge” gave an exciting experience of the LNG propelled engines of M/S Stavangerfjord. The tour was led by the officers of the ship, which created an exceptional possibility for chatting along the way.

For some more laid back networking, the Go LNG Project, with the support of Kosan Crisplant and DUAL Ports - Interreg North Sea Region hosted two evening receptions providing great networking opportunities.

But with nearly 100 attendees, talking to all can be tricky. To meet the need a B2B Matchmaking Meeting event took place and no less than 124 meetings took place in just one and half hours. Thus, these 44 participants got an excellent opportunity for meeting valuable LNG partners.

Are Magnussen - Shipping and Ship Management, Business Development and Project Management - CRYO Shipping said: 'Kudos for arranging a brilliant conference. We got several very good new connections and some exciting opportunities.'

After 3 days of a slam packed program, endless networking opportunities and a lot of new knowledge gaining the participants disembarked M/S Stavangerfjord with an overall truly satisfied mood.
