Ever been onboard a gas tanker or ever visited a dry dock? Do you know what the inspection survey for vessels every 5 years is all about?
MDC proudly presents an exclusive opportunity to get the answers onboard Ultragas ADRIATIC GAS coming to FAYARD for its 1st survey.
The focus of the visit is both to give 20 of MDC’s members an opportunity to visit a LPG tanker and to get into the important practices of a dry dock survey, which takes place every 5 years. As ADRIATIC GAS is nearly 5 years old, this is the first survey of the ship.
What to do at this dry dock survey?
During the visit you will have an unique opportunity to meet the surveyors from Ultragas and Lloyd’s Register and hear about the ship examination programme.
As per SOLAS requirements, all merchant vessels require a complete inspection of the hull in a dry dock within a 5 year period. This includes maintenance of hull, propeller, rudder and other parts, which are immersed in water and are normally inaccessible by ship staff in a normal period sailing.
Among other tasks tanks, valves, engine and lifesaving equipment will be checked thoroughly and in this specific survey a scrubber and a smoking cabin will be installed. The survey is estimated to last 14 days.
More about the vessel:
ADRIATIC GAS is sailing in open markets, currently not in East Asia, and taking time horizon into account, the first ship survey is conducted in Denmark.
ADRIATIC GAS is normally sailing with propane; butane, propylene and ammonia.
