Go LNG

The project “Go LNG” will focus on developing the demand and accessibility of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in Baltic Sea Region.

While the research institutions, the value chain and the first case studies on the use of LNG for shipping are quite developed, the accessibility and the high infrastructure costs of LNG are still bottlenecks for further development. Also the limited demand by the end users plays a role in the delay of the unrolling of the full potential of LNG for shipping in the Baltic Sea Region.

The Go LNG project will focus on consolidating a wider value chain, adding new users to the existing ones, supporting the development of new LNG infrastructure and indentifying a larger group of potential investors/users for future LNG infrastructure investments. By doing so, the infrastructure costs of establishing the LNG infrastructure should decrease for the induvidual business stakeholder, subsequently also decrease the investments risks.

The Go LNG project will create a strategic approach to the LNG development. This will be achieved by providing a “BSR Blue Corridor Concept”-strategy, which will
- develop a technology approach for consolidating the LNG value chain
- provide competence enhancement opportunities
 - a business BSR LNG cluster to stimulate further LNG infrastructure development and business opportunities in the Baltic Sea Region
- a LBG (Liquid Bio Gas) concept will be developed to support the development of sustainable LNG infrastructure.

While the MDC will participate in almost all of the project activities and will be responsible for collecting the necessary information from Danish stakeholders, organizing LNG study trips and seminars, the main activity of the MDC will be to establish an Baltic Sea Region LNG Business Cluster.

The aim of the Go LNG Business Cluster is to gather the critical mass of businesses to facilitate service, finance, technology and innovation for deploying the LNG infrastructure in the Baltic Sea Region thus supporting the transition of the BSR environmental challenges into business opportunities.

The idea of establishing the BSR LNG business cluster has been raised during the implementation of the projects predecessor MarTech LNG where a business network of 300 companies has been established and the activity of facilitating the industry cooperation has resulted in the business project worth approx. 50 million EUR.

Fjordline A/S, Kosan Crisplant A/S, OSK ShipTech A/S. Port of Helsingborg and The Danish Maritime Authority are just some of the MDC members that are involved in the partner group of the project. The total project partner group consists of 68 partners and associated partners with strong names such as Q8, Nordic Yards, Becker Marine Systems, the Lithuanian and the Norwegian Ship-owners Association making the consortium itself the perfect off set for the creation of a leading maritime LNG Cluster.
