The 5th edition of the closed and exclusive event in the name of creating strategic partnerships and business relations, 'Nordic Smart and Green Shipping' took place in the beautiful surroundings in the residence of the Finnish Ambassador in Denmark. Finpro, MDC and Nordic Gateway gathered 10 Danish Shipowners and 13 Finnish Suppliers for a total of 100 meetings!

Representatives from 10 European maritime clusters met at M/S Museet for Søfart in Elsinore on the 25 and 26th of October 2017 for the yearly meeting. ENMC is a platform for cooperation of maritime clusters from all over Europe and has very good ties with various entities in the EU.

In recent months the maritime media have widely discussed the ways of attracting young people to seafaring. It is apparent that Denmark's largest export business is dependent on remaining an attractive profession for young people. When we with SEAHEALTH started planning the program for this year's MSSM conference early in 2017,  with the headline: "Performing in a rapidly changing world", we were also convinced that one of the main issues we should focus on attracting and retaining young people - millennials - in our profession

The EfficienSea 2 project is dragging no anchors and the activity level is sky high in the goal of moving the maritime world into the digital age. The solutions are many and the news and publications even more. This month's 'Seafarer story' is a little out of the ordinary. Though we are in the year 2017 heads are still turned when a solemnly female-crewed ship cast away for five days at sea. Captain of the ship, Lise Mortensen, put together her crew consisting of eight women who with great spirit and enthusiasm boarded the ship Palnatoke and participated in the sailing competition: 'Fyn Rundt' - a competition for old sailing ships who are worth preserving. 
"There have been many reactions to the crew of the ship and most of them were positive, though the best was my girlfriend's husband who, in full earnestness asked if that was even legal?" says Lise Mortensen.

Among them is Danelec  A/S who is a leading manufacturer of Voyage Data Recorders, Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems and ship-2-shore data solutions, located in Denmark, Singapore and China. Are you also tired of boring and endless PowerPoint presentations with no audience interaction? So were MDC and it showed up that 40 of our members felt the same. We heard that Chris Rycroft, a specialist presentation coach, knew what to do. With many exercises we all got hands-on experience using some serious and unusual tricks on how to present with impact. 

Once again, the TINV project was to be found at the annual 'Folkemøde' on the island of Bornholm. At a joint tent with the other Danish Innovation Networks, the focus was on showing methods that the Networks are using when supporting companies in developing new ideas and doing innovative processes.

With an amount of 25 million DKK, the Danish Maritime Fund backs up the government's efforts to strengthen the Blue Denmark. After the Growth Team in April 2017 announced their 52 recommendations to the Government, the Danish Maritime Fund's Board has discussed how to support selected initiatives from these recommendations.

Maritime Cluster Funen and MDC are happy to have entered a strategic partnership to aim to make joint activities and events where it fits into the core areas of the organisations.

All kinds of gadgets and the newest technology were presented and experienced at the ”Sci-fi Gadgets” event at Aalborg University, Campus Copenhagen on the 12th of June. Inspiring speakers and presenters brought insight and perspectives to the research and trends within the maritime field and it was possible to hear all about the opportunities of digitalization.
