Yesterday, in the MSK premises, students from SIMAC and Marstal Navigationsskole put forward the results of a vox-pop conducted amongst the future seafarers. Nearly 50 guests were there to hear and learn more about the motivations behind choosing the life on the seven seas – what the main factors influencing the decision were and where they see themselves in 2030.
So what motivates the young generation? Daniel Birkholm from CompanYoung summarized the Millennial peers - an importance of a good leadership, a balance between social life & work, and the preferences about their dream jobs seem to play a crucial role.
The fully-booked event was crowned with a passionate panel discussion. Anne Windfeldt Trolle (Executive Director – Danish Shipping), Henrik Holck (Vice President – People & Ships, DFDS), Thomas Lindegaard Madsen (Captain - Maersk), Per Jørgensen (Chairman – Maskinmestrenes Forening), Daniel Birkholm (CCO & Co-Founder, CompanYoung) met face-to-face with SIMAC and Marstal Navigtionsskole students to align their expectations, discuss the views on seafaring from different angles as well as take a look on what should be done to attract more youngsters to the blue industry.
So let’s not wait and all together we can make the seafaring great again! :)
